I AM Poems

In Ms. Boulette's classes, students were asked to introduce themselves through a creative writing project. They were given a template that consisted of the first two words for each line. Students crafted lines that began with stems such as: I wonder, I hear, I touch, I worry, I see, etc.

They were given creative freedom for the assignment and many students took a metaphorical approach where they became another object or being. They wrote the poem as if they were that thing and reflected it back on their own lives. These lines are only a few out of hundreds that were written in poems done by 11th and 12th graders.
