Welcome to winthrop high school

Principal Dufour

Welcome to Winthrop High School! Whether you are a returning family or new to our school community, we are glad you are here. Serving students in grades 9–12, WHS is a school built on strong relationships, high expectations, and plenty of Rambler Pride. We are fortunate to have a caring, dedicated, and hard-working staff who are committed to helping every student feel known, supported, and successful.

At Winthrop High School, we believe students should take advantage of every opportunity to get involved. Our students participate in a wide variety of clubs and activities, including Drama, Civil Rights, Student Council Leadership, WBUS, Art Club, Outing Club, Math Team, National Honor Society, and many more. Our athletic programs offer opportunities in soccer, football, field hockey, basketball, cheering, track and field, baseball, softball, and more. Whether in the classroom, on the stage, on the field, or in one of our many clubs, we encourage every student to find something they enjoy and be part of our school community.

Academically, we offer a strong and diverse program designed to meet the needs and interests of all students. In addition to a variety of elective courses, WHS offers Advanced Placement and concurrent enrollment college courses, as well as technical education opportunities through CATC for our juniors and seniors. Our goal is to help every student discover their strengths, prepare for their future, and find a path that is right for them.

We also believe that education is about more than academics. We want our students to be caring, respectful, responsible, involved, and people of integrity who make a positive difference in their school and community. Our core values of Respect, Compassion, Integrity, Responsibility, and Cooperation guide the work we do every day.

Most importantly, students come first at Winthrop High School. We are committed to meeting the individual needs of every student and helping each one reach their potential. Students are always welcome in our offices, and our doors are always open to families who have questions, concerns, or ideas.

We are proud of our students, proud of our staff, and proud to be Ramblers. We hope you will take the time to explore our website and learn more about all that Winthrop High School has to offer.

Welcome to WHS — and Go Ramblers!

Sincerely,

Jay Dufour
