School Spirit Challenge 2015

Altruism was discussed on the first day of school when we assembled in the PAC this past fall. On that day, Mr. Morin shared a challenge we would be working on together that would require our spirit, our kindness and our hard work. In true Rambler fashion, we stepped up to the challenge. On October 23, 2015, all of Maine watched as we showcased our Rambler Pride and donated over $15,000 to the Good Shepherd Food Bank at the WGME13 School Spirit Challenge. Winthrop HS placed

third-- a great showing, but in our hearts, we placed first because our little town with the BIG heart contributed all it could to make us shine and once, again, made us proud to be Ramblers.

Our donation would feed our entire student body, three meals a day for ninety days!!! That is incredible!!!

In 2015, Winthrop High School was recognized as one of the top five hundred schools in the United States. Because of the positive influence from our community and entire district, our school has been recognized as one that best prepares students for their future endeavors. We celebrate our wonderful students who are as proud of this honor as our administrators, teachers and community members are. Our Rambler Pride shines on in our classrooms, on our sports' fields, and all across our community

It is with a great deal of pleasure and excitement that I am able to announce that Winthrop High School has been named by Newsweek Magazine as one of America's Top High Schools for 2014.

This is a terrific honor for Principal Morin, his staff, as well as for the staff members of the Grade School and Middle School, all of whom had a strong hand in the preparation process of the students at our high school.

This is the second recognition for the high school, having been named one of America's Best High Schools in 2012 by US News and World Report.

The protocols used in the selection process were handled by Westat, a renowned Maryland research corporation which provides consulting in statistical design, data collection and management, and research analysis work throughout the nation.

Congratulations again to Keith and all of the members of the Administrative Team for the work they do to support our staff and students in our mission to become not only the best school district in central Maine, but the finest school department in the state.
